On July 11, 2024 MR THOMAS RED BIRD, will lay in state in the Tribal Chambers from 12:00 pm-2:00 pm.
I ask all employees to please take the time to offer prayers for the family. Mr. Red Bird will be dearly missed. He dedicated his life to the preservation of our language.
In observance of this event, all Tribal Employees will be entitled to 4 hours of excused time off with pay to commence at 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm. In order to receive pay for the excused time off, the employee must be at work or approved paid leave status on the scheduled workday before and after, July 11, 2024.

REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL
Introduction
The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe (SRST), Department of Environmental Regulations/Environmental Protection Agency (DER/EPA) is soliciting bids for conducting electrical maintenance and/or reconstruction in an old garage/shop located within the Community of Fort Yates on the Standing Rock Reservation in North Dakota. All activities and disposal of construction materials must be completed in accordance with the SRST Solid Waste Codes and applicable State and United States Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) regulations.
The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe Solid Waste and 1% Fee Programs will conduct oversight construction project. Funds from permit fee program will be utilized to fund construction activities at this site. Proposed work must meet Tribal and Federal requirements.
The detailed Request for Proposal (RFP) provides the specifications and requirements for prospective applicants to complete the proposed project with cost estimates for services. Contact Palani Luger, Solid Waste Coordinator, Jake Luger, or Adam Rookey, Environmental Specialist at the location below for a copy of the detailed RFP. Solicitation will be open until a suitable bid is presented. A tour of the site may be provided by calling the project coordinator, whose contact information is listed below.

TRIBAL ROADS – STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARATION
July 9, 2024
WHEREAS, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Chairwoman, Janet Alkire, and the Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Council, pursuant to the amended Constitution of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, Article IV, Section 1(c), is empowered to promote and protect the health, education, and general welfare of the members of the Tribe, and to administer charity and such other services as may contribute to the social and economic advancement of the Tribe and its members, and
WHEREAS, the public safety hazard regarding the dangerous tribal road conditions throughout the Standing Rock Reservation which affects the residents and motorists, caused by the heavy rain conditions throughout the months of June and July 2024, and
WHEREAS, the Tribal Roads funding for Tribal Roads maintenance and repair efforts is significantly deficient and does not provide adequate funding for routine maintenance and repair, and
WHEREAS, the environmental conditions have contributed to serious deterioration of the entire tribal roads infrastructure causing dangerous driving conditions this Spring and Summer, and
WHEREAS, the potential exists for major accidents that may threaten the safety and well-being of all vehicular passengers to both Tribal programs, BIA Law Enforcement, residents, and visitors on the Standing Rock Reservation which may result in the loss of life, as well as significant damage to the vehicular modes of transportation, and
WHEREAS, the ability to respond to medical emergencies is inhibited and poses threats to all Emergency Responders on the Standing Rock Reservation, and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Janet Alkire, Chairwoman of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, request cooperation with the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Tribal Roads and Transportation Departments, and do hereby declare a State of Emergency on this date, July 9, 2024 to commence immediately until at such time the dangerous road conditions improve.
