The Miss Standing Rock Pageant will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024 @ 1:00 pm at the Kenel District building.
The Deadline for the application is August 16, 2024 at 4:30 pm.
APPLICATIONS ARE ENCOURAGED FROM ALL ELIGIBLE AND INTERESTED CANDIDATES AND ARE AVAILABLE AT YOUR DISTRICT BUILDINGS AND THE COORDINATORS. There is no limit to the number of entries from any district. The pageant officially begins after the luncheon and all contestants must be present to pre-register by that time.
There will be a panel of (4) judges for the pageant. Selections of the Miss Standing Rock 2024 will be based on appearance, poise, Indian characteristics, scholastic interest and dedication to the advancement of the Indian people of Standing Rock. Selections of the Miss Standing Rock 2024 will be based on the qualifications stated in the criteria. The judge’s decision will be final. The coordinators are not judges for the contest; they are only there as designated representatives for the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and pageant. Contestants (other than the winners) who have previously entered the contest are cordially invited to enter again provided they still meet the qualifications.
In the event that Miss Standing Rock can’t fulfill her duties, the first attendant will make appearances in her
place.

Wounded Knee Memorial Motorcycle Run

The mission of the Wounded Knee Memorial Motorcycle Run is to preserve the memory of the innocent Lakota People who suffered and died on December 29, 1890. We will honor the ancestors through prayer and ceremony by remembering and paying our respects.
Educational programs coordinated throughout the Run will he presented by the Descendants of the Wounded Knee Massacre bringing awareness to all people; then healing and unity can be achieved.

This “NO COST” OR “NON-LEASE” hay cutting permit includes
ditches and roadways adjacent to any Tribal Road or BIA Road
Right-away that has become overrun by weeds and grasses.
This pertains to an enrolled member or non-enrolled
member of whom is a farmer or rancher, of the Standing
Rock Sioux Tribe, that have lands adjacent to their
respective lease allotments or Tribally leased or allocated
lands, within the borders of the Standing Rock Sioux
Reservation.

Subject: Use Caution During Smoky Conditions
The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe (SRST) Department of Environmental Regulations /EPA office
continues its recommendation that residents limit prolonged outdoor activities during smoky
conditions across North Dakota, especially residents with known respiratory conditions.
Particulate matter, which consists of extremely small particles of soot and ash, have been
increasing across the area over the last several hours. Particulate matter can cause irritation
to the respiratory system, especially those who suffer from allergies, asthma or chronic
obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). During this period of smoky conditions, the
Department recommends the elderly and young children to limit or completely avoid
unnecessary outdoor exposure.
The smoke in the area is resulted from wildfires in Canada and is expected to remain in the
area throughout the week. The Standing Rock EPA department will monitor the Air Quality
Index and update the alert as necessary.
The Current AQI is 113, which is considered unhealthy for sensitive groups.
